Serendipity of Exeter had its humble beginnings 40 years ago in a garage in downtown Henniker, NH.

It was the Hippie era and Carole, the owner then, embroidered peasant blouses and recycled jeans for the college students. It slowly bloomed into the boutique and women's general store it is today, by constantly striving to meet the customers needs for unique and quality goods. From imported clothing, jewelry, pottery, and home accessories, to the present thrust of offering affordable fair trade and eco-friendly products.

After 40 years of running numerous Serendipity's in her career - including Serendipity in Portsmouth, NH which she sold over 10 years ago - she has gracefully retired.

Her only daughter, Brie, purchased the shop from her in 2006. Previously a teacher in NH and VT, Brie decided to switch directions and proudly carry on the legend of Serendipity with new visions for its future. Coming from a background in sustainable living, global issues, and education ,Brie naturally saw the opportunity with Serendipity as an avenue to encourage others to live a more Earth-friendly lifestyle through conscious consuming. She envisioned Serendipity as a wonderful gathering center of conscious women (and men) who are choosing to support a greener world by purchasing and supporting fair trade, USA made, and eco-friendly clothing, gifts, and jewelry. She has been so appreciative of the positive response the seacoast community has had to the changes in the last few years. It has been a journey of hope for Brie, her mother, and her staff at Serendipity. They thank you for your support and continuing to encourage us to work so hard with all their hearts for a more peaceful and sustainable planet.
