My New Organic Farm!

Hope everyone is enjoying the wonderful warm weather. Eventhough it is strange...it sure feels good to be coming out of winter hibernation early...with the bright sun on our faces eager to prepare for a season of growth and abundance.

This year I am especially anxious for the ground to thaw and the tempertures to climb. If you do not already know, my husband and I are starting a small organic farm in Northwood, NH this spring. We hope to have a diverse variety of organic greens, heirloom tomatoes, squashes, peppers, cukes, herbs, potatoes, carrots, beets, and many many more delicious, nutritious, and chemical/toxic/carcenogenic free vegetables. We will be planting over 30 blueberry bushes this year and begin slowly building an orchard for fruit and nut trees. Over the next couple years we hope to construct a pond in order to grow edible aqautic plants dense in nutrtional value, start beehives, and expand our farm animal family to include a few goats and sheep. (We currently have 26 animals including chickens, ducks, bunnies, cats, and a dog on a quarter of in Barrington and well...we are ready to spread all our wings on our new land!) We have a long way to go (we still need a well dug!)...but we are determined to be offering our healthy and locally grown food to our community starting this year. My husband and I are a great team and above all we LOVE growing food and caring for animals together. So... stay tuned for announments on when and where our organic veggies, fruit, and eggs will be available.

In the meantime...I promise Serendipity will always remain my main priority offering my communtiy affordable handmade products. But now I can offer what I am also incredibly passionate about which is locally grown organic food! I am apologizing ahead of time if I may be spending a few extra days gardening rather than being at the store this summer. Don't worry though...when I come to town I will be bearing many fruits of my labor!!

Happy New Year from the Land of Dipity!

We had a very successful holiday season, thanks to our wonderful customers. It has been wonderful to get to know all of you, whether you are new to our shop or have been shopping with us for years.

In 2012, we are going to be focusing on local artists and artisans. Have no fear, we will still be carrying our tried and true clothing lines and merchandise. But we are also looking hard for people in this area who do and make astonishing things. By supporting these local artists, we are doing even more to sustain our local economy. As well, the footprint on the earth is less if we are sourcing things in our own backyard, so to speak.
